Over the past year you have delivered and developed specific methods for training athletes.
Using either the training session template supplied (see Blackboard) or one of your own you must design a training program (50 mins) which covers the following areas:
1.The aims and objectives of the training session
2.Explain the health and safety checks which must be carried out prior to training athletes
3.Explain the benefits of a warmup. You do not have to produce exercisers for this part just explain the physiological effects and benefits.
4.Your main exercise content must have some training benefit for the athletes Upper, Lower and Core regions.
5.The technique for each exercise must be explained sufficiently as to enable another therapist to use your session. You may use diagrams to help explain. You should support and justify each exercise you have included e.g. Type of contraction, Main muscles being targeted, timings etc
6.The exercise starting position needs to be stated
7.Design a team game/activity of your choice justifying its inclusion.
8.Explain the benefits of a cooldown. You do not have to produce exercisers for this part just explain the physiological effects and benefits.
9.You must include a summary on the importance of teaching and correcting exercises.
