In Discussion 1 this week, you reviewed the basics of prevention and intervention science. Your Final Project in this course is an analysis of one of five programs that are aimed at promoting individuals’ social and emotional development. While talking about these types of programs in theory is one thing, it is quite another to examine all aspects of a developed intervention program through the lens of the insights we gain through current social and emotional development research. Broadly, this is your task for the Final Project.
This project is divided into several distinct parts. This week, you complete Part I of the Final Project. Your task this week is to examine each of the intervention programs that have been provided for you in the Final Project Guidelines in this week’s Learning Resources. Please go to each program’s website and learn about the specific purpose of the program, whom the program targets, where the program is implemented, who is implementing the program, what the curriculum of the program contains, and what research has been done to demonstrate the effectiveness of the program. After evaluating each program, choose the program that is most interesting to you. Your assignment this week involves writing a brief summary explaining which program you chose and why you chose it.
To Prepare:
· Review the Final Project Guidelines and the Learning Resources on prevention and intervention programs.
· Research each of the intervention programs provided in the Final Project Guidelines by reviewing the website of each.
· Choose one of these programs for your Final Project.
The assignment (200–400 words):
· Submit 1 or 2 paragraphs describing the program you chose and why you chose it. Include a very brief summary of the program’s target population, its setting of administration (school, community center), and the social and emotional development aspect it aims to address.
