1. Inherently Good or Bad:
Each day I keep telling myself that majority of humans are inherently good, but than I always have to remind myself that there is bad in everyone. No one in this world is perfect, and many have more bad than others. Unfortunately, it is common to assume that people will do things to serve their selves rather than the group, and this is more often true rather than false. This is not to say that people are not inherently good. Overall, look at how people are treating each other.
2. Cultural Background:
I am a single African American/ Native American Female. I am in my late mid 30’s. I am a Baptist/ Christian. I speak English and I am originally from Timmonsville, SC. I have a BS in Therapeutic Recreation and a MPH.
3.Culture and Beliefs:
My cultural background has somewhat pursed my beliefs and ideas about people. The reason for this is because as you see on the news everywhere many African American are being brutally killed or gun down for no reason. I am not a judgmental person, but it’s hard not to think a certain way when it’s happen on many occasion. I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt until they show their true color.
4. My Values:
Growing up I’ve learned many values in my household. My grandparents and parents instill in me a strong work orientation, strong religious orientation, and a strong kinship bonds. I was taught to treat people with dignity and respect. My grandmother always taught me to never judge anyone, because you don’t know their story. Our family lives by these three rule; loyalty , honest, and respect. If those rules or values were ever broke they mean you no good, and it’s time to move on.
5. Intersection of Culture and Values:
The intersection between my culture and value is quiet similar. My culture background and value have some of the same up bringing I was taught. We’re highly religious, display a strong work orientation, and value honest and respect. However, there are room for improvement in the education background. My culture and Value goes hand in hand.
